If you have ever visited a Chuy’s location, the company claims that you haven’t visited Chuy’s. Each location stands on it’s on as far as the
atmosphere. By the way, it is pronounced Chewy’s. Each location includes an Elvis Shrine. Gosh Chuy’s is known for their hand-rolled
enchiladas and fresh squeezed lime margaritas just to get things going. The chain, itself started in 1982 in Austin, Texas in an abandoned
barbeque joint. The location had a womens rest room the size of a broom closet and the men’s was open and airy outback. As a matter of fact
the original decor budget was so low, the owners just collected what they could to make it work. As with most bbq joints, it is claimed emphasis
is on the food, not how it is delivered. Chuy’s menu reflects family favorites from Mexico, New Mexico, and border town cafes and restaurants.
Chuy’s is now in the Landings at Cedar Bluff directly in front of the new Kroger Marketplace. The crowds have been heavy!! On a Monday visit,
by 11:30am the restaurant was at capacity. We were quickly seated under some palm trees with strings of lights and the fresh tortilla kitchen just
across the room. We could see that the room next door had a ceiling covered in hubcaps. There is plenty to explore. The salsa is of the fresh
variety with a little kick, the chips are light and thin. The manager stopped by to ensure things went our way. A full review will require a second
visit. We did notice that as patrons departed their tables, a swarm of employees invaded the table, cleaned, sanitzed, as well as sweep and mop
the floor around the vacated table. Management is great and has an appearance. The food, while premium ingredients were used, seemed a
little light on flavor and a bit too polished on this visit. Again, we will need a second visit, perhaps with some of those fresh lime margaritas.
