Housing Apartments transform into several U.T. Intra-mural Soccer fields.  Dead End BBQ has contributed to that growth.  The restaurant is located in a former building that housed a gas station, deli and market.  This location was gutted and totally revamped to include an outside patio with a fireplace and interior bar.  Our famous backyard tailgaters and barbequers decided to enter their product into several contests and walked away with quite a few ribbons.  Let's say you have met the end of your quest for great BBQ.  Or at least our purveyors say you have hit a Dead End.  "Good food is not cheap and cheap food is not good".  Enter Dead End BBQ.  Our review of this restaurant shows first quality in many aspects.  The BBQ is moist, tasty and not burned.  Are you sure this was BBQ'd or cooked in the crock pot?  Our order of a combo plate--pork and chicken was enough for two meals.  I must warn you that the side items are a bit off the wall and shows a change from the norm when it comes to side items.  For instance, the Red, White & Blue Slaw is a concoction of cabbage, grape tomatoes and bleu cheese.  We found this item odd and not to our taste.  The Mayor's Beans has white and pinto beans with a bit of brown sugar and pineapple, if we were starving it might be ok, but otherwise, we'll pass.  The jalapeno or Mexican cornbread is nothing other than a sweetened cornbread with little flavor.  When ordering side items, stick with fries or potato salad, corn on the cob or green beans.  Otherwise, the food is great, and I must say the presentation of the BBQ Nachos are quite stunning.  Based on the location and desire for flourishing restaurants, we recommend Dead End BBQ.  The food is great and the parking is a problem at either location.  Near peak dining hours the wait can vary from 10 minutes to 35 minutes.  Both locations are community oriented and support local events, local schools and the local economy.  Want to buy local?  Dead End BBQ is all local.
